Human Formation
"The whole work of priestly formation would be deprived
of its necessary foundation if it lacked suitable human formation"
Pastores Dabo Vobis, 4
Human formation is about
growing in the qualities, the skills and the virtues necessary for
living a mature adult life. It involves self-discovery, grasping
opportunities for change and growth, mastering one's own unique
gifts for service, developing one's strengths and coming to terms
with one's weakness. Through formal and informal opportunities the
students of Scotus College are given the opportunity to grow as
human persons so that they can reflect more and more the humanity
of Jesus, the incarnate Son of God.
Throughout the academic
year, human formation is continually connected with the other three
areas of formation. However, it is also given specific focus with
Human Development Days schedulded in January and June.
The Human Development
Days concentrate on topics such as: health, diet, stress, relaxation,
relationships, time management, transitions, loneliness, celibacy,
leadership skills, and self-assessment.
