Scotus College, working together with PRIESTS FOR SCOTLAND, offers a variety of opportunities for the ongoing formation of priests. The college welcomes Priest Support Groups, and has overnight accomodation available for such groups. In addition, any priest wishing to spend time on retreat, or simply in quiet reflection away from the parish, will find the atmosphere of the college welcoming and prayerful. Priest guests are welcome at all liturgies in the college, including daily Eucharist, and Morning and Evening Prayer. Spiritual direction from a member of staff is also avilable, should it be desired. The cottage in the college grounds gives the priest on retreat the choice of self-catering for his meals, or of eating together with the college community.
A theological focus for priestly ongoing formation is highlighted with a series of workshops offered in the college throughout the year. The academic year 2007-2008 will see the focus on the magisterial teaching of Pope John Paul II, with interested clergy invited to meet to discuss the following documents:
Tuesday 23rd October 2007 - Pastores Dabo Vobis
Tuesday 20th November 2007 - Ecclesia de Eucharistia
Tuesday 19th February 2008 - Ut Unum Sint
Tuesday 22nd April 2008 - Reconciliatio et Paenitentia
During 2008-2009 the focus for ongoing formation of clergy will be on the priesthood, with workshops being offered on the following days:
Tuesday 28th October 2008 - The Works of Donald Cozzens
Tuesday 10th February 2009 - The Works of Cardinal Walter Kasper
